F.D.A. Bans School Electric Shock Devices

F.D.A. Bans School Electric Shock Devices In this article, Jacey Fortin explains how the F.D.A. banned electric shock devices in all schools. The article says that this act is pointed at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center. This school is for adults and children that have problems with learning. The staff there have been using shocks to discipline students for years. The student would wear a backpack with a battery inside that has wires sticking out. This bag could administer an electric shock when activated by an employee at the school. This could cause physical and psychological damage to the student permanently. I think that this is good because the students could not get shocked anymore. This means they won’t get damaged in any way by the shock treatments. They should not have had the shock devices in the first place because it can hurt the students. I also think that the students who got shocked should not have had to get shocked in the first place. The treatments shou

Man who killed 2 people in Bangor box truck fire sentenced to life

Man who killed 2 people in Bangor box truck fire sentenced to life In the article “Man who killed 2 people in Bangor box truck fire sentenced to life” John De St. Croix was sentenced to life because he lit a box truck on fire and did nothing when he heard screams. The victims were Michael Bridges and Desiree York. They both died of smoke inhalation. They also had second to third-degree burns. Investigators found lighter fluid near the site of the truck which they think helped the fire.  He called the police at 10:01 pm. I agree that he should have life in prison. He burnt people and should go to prison for it. I think this because he took someone’s life away. He also just stood by for a short amount of time before calling the police. I also think that since murdered two people he should stay out of contact from his relatives. I think this because he killed people and does not deserve sympathy. The victims were killed for no reason.

82 days Underwater: The Tide is High but They’re Holding On

82 days Underwater: The Tide is High but They’re Holding On In the article “82 Days Underwater: The Tide is High but They’re holding on” Patricia Mazzei from the new york times explains how some people have to wade through water to go places. she also explains how climate change and rising sea levels caused the tides to rise higher than usual. The article says that it smells bad and has brought tadpoles, minnows, and algae to live in places that should not have them. It says that people need expensive car repair due to salt damage. They still get mail but restaurants no longer deliver.  I think that people should try and help them with water or salt damage. I think this because some people probably had cars that need to be repaired because of the salt in the water. People could try and help with food for some of the older residents. The water restricts their ability to move around and would make it harder to get food. I think this because the water is brackish and contains alg

'A Blood Bath': 5 Dead As Gang Violence Rocks Mississippi Prisons

‘ A Blood Bath’: 5 Dead as Gang Violence Rocks Mississippi Prisons. Rick Rojas and Richard Fausset at the new york times wrote about Mississippi prison quality and prison staff.  They said, “the Mississippi Delta prison that has, over the course of more than a century, earned a dark and near-mythic reputation for cruelty and institutional racism.”. This means that people in prisons are treated badly by other inmates without trouble. They also explained that some of the prison staff don’t show up or they do not have enough. Pictures show the quality of the walls and show that there are clogged drains and holes in the walls. The pictures were taken b phones in the prisons. I think that they should get better walls and more staff. That means that the inmates would be less likely to escape and would act more like people. I think this because if they are treated like people they would not start as many riots or fights. I think that the prisons should be either repaired or re

One of the men accused of killing Franky the pug is on trial today in Ellsworth

One of the men accused of killing Franky the pug is on trial today in Ellsworth In the article “One of the men accused of killing Franky the pug is on trial today in Ellsworth” by Bangor Daily News’ Nick Sambides Jr. says that Justin T. Chipman is on trial for burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and animal cruelty. He will be judged either guilty or not guilty by Justice Robert Murray since there is no jury. It is supposed to be wrapped up on Thursday afternoon. It also says that they are being accused of breaking into Torrey’s house, kidnapping Franky the pug, And driving his car around. They caused around $2,000 to the car. Franky was found six days later on a beach dead. I think that they should be found guilty. I think this because they caused at least $2,000 in damage to Torrey’s car. They also harmed an animal for no reason. I also think that they should go to jail because what they did was wrong and they knew that. They also broke into Torrey’s house. They sh

China sentences man to death for trafficking Fentanyl to the U.S.

China sentences man to death for trafficking Fentanyl to the U.S. In the article “China sentences man to death for trafficking Fentanyl to the U.S.” Steven Lee Myers says that Yiu Long led multiple labs and was shipping them to America. He also said that Yiu’s death sentence was suspended for two years so it might be commuted to life in prison. He said that it started as an arrest by the Drug Enforcement Administration in New Orleans. Then it turned into an investigation of a production network lead by Yiu Long. I think he should have a death sentence because he was selling something that could have killed people. I also think that they should not have suspended his sentence so he could not have life in prison. I think this because he knew that he could be killing people but he didn’t care. He also had multiple places where he sold them. I also think that anyone associated with this should go to jail. This is because they also knew that what they were doing was ill

Harry Dunn’s parents say they will sue Trump administration

Micheal Cox  A class  11/7/19     Harry Dunn’s parents say they will sue Trump administration  In the article “Harry Dunn’s parents say they will sue the Trump administration”, written by New York times’ Iliana Magra, it says that Harry Dunn, age 19, died in a motorcycle crash in Britain in August. The event happened on August 27th, 2019 in a town called Brackley 60 miles northwest of London. It also says that the woman people think drove the car who hit Harry Dunn was Anne Sacoolas. She is the wife of an American diplomat. It says that she claimed immunity and left two weeks after the incident. I think that she should go to jail for hitting Harry because she was on the wrong side of the road. She was from America and went to England but she still drove on the right side of the road. This means that she either did not care about where she drove or she didn’t know about the difference between what side of the road they drive on here and in Eng
